It’s Spring! The first spring at the ashram farm. After readjusting from the 6-week world tour through India and Europe, the snow is melting, temperature is rising, and the earth is smelling sweet.
Started pruning the apple trees again, turning the compost bin, and, as you can see in the picture, built a wood holder for a cord of wood, and stacked the remaining cord...about half a cord left (under the blue tarp). The wood got quite soaked from condensation, melted snow, and maybe some water running along the tarp floor.
On the days the weather hits 40 degrees and the sun comes out, no need for the wood stove, the sun is quite a nice heater.
As the snow melted off the back porch, a new view has appeared, wood calling for rejuvenation on the deck, and one of the steps is calling out for attention. Also, sitting in the garage is the wood awaiting its place as a railing for the back porch.
Another harbinger of spring, the first guests are coming. Dan came mid March, and Sam is coming this weekend (guests page). Others are planning for April & May too. July and August spiritual family coming from India, UK, and Denmark are planning their reservations as well. We have some tents, a netted tent gazebo, and plan to get some adirondak furniture, picnic table, and hammock for enjoying in the backyard.
In April I begin planting the fruit & vegetable seeds for the organic garden. New challenge - how to keep some of the food from the wildlife.
Chores as Life Lessons
Living in nature, as a part of nature (rather than conquering it), I find nature causes me to live more in touch with the truth of the moment. Put the wood in the wood stove, light it, and when its done, it’s done; gotta add more. There’s no fudging, imagining, or racing of the mind - life dictates what is the real priority need. It all gives a good perspective.
Climbing apple trees to prune brings a sense of peace and place within nature; picking up branches and smelling the earth brings a smile to my face - a friend - a gift. Stacking & splitting wood builds joy and confidence; fixing decks and other chores seem to be the pieces of life. Time stands still and life merely is, vibrant, gentle, strong, silent. Such a blessed life.
World Tour continued...
Other plans for early spring, I’ll be back on the world tour - US edition. 1st weekend in April I’ll be out in Houston Tx at the Woodlands Yoga, founded by Vicki, giving a weekend workshop. We’ll be doing the workshop along with added music and chanting and dancing...sacred fun!
The last weekend in April, I’ll be on Long Island at the Yoga Darshana Center giving a Bhagavad Gita workshop for yoga teachers (ceu credit), and it is open for everyone.
Come May, I’ll be visiting Wyoming again, its been a few years, but looking forward to taking the world tour to Jackson and Riverton/Lander from 8-18th May. Will stay with Ben at his Peace & Paradise Ranch...making some music as well...
Returning to the ashram, it’ll be time to create the organic garden and start transplanting out doors.
At that time I’ll be looking to get some trees; paper birch, bamboo, redwood, blueberries, raspberries, and a few more things.
Spring renewal is here, enjoy the season.
Enjoy your peace & paradise.
